The initial impression I get right away from Sennheiser HD 595 headphones is that they are top quality. The box it comes in just screams it right away. The packaging is of very high quality and, like Apple products, it just gives you a great reassuring sense that some serious thought went in to perfect it. You have to pull a tab on top of the box to unlock the wings to get to the actual packaging itself. It’s like it has its own box to protect the packaging and it’s quite spiffy.
The second thing you’ll notice is how absolutely light these headphones are. They weigh almost nothing at all. They also have a strong sense of being extremely high-quality. The way the plastic and metal has been assembled and the attention to detail is really very good. Inside the box is a neat, useful headphone hanger, a cable, a guide on how to operate the headphones and of course the HD 595 headphones themselves. A genius addition to the box is the headphone hanger. It is a simple clamp design which screws onto the edge of any table. It’s nice to have your headphones just at the edge of your reach at all times I must say. Very convenient. Unless you enjoy the clutter of cables all over your desk of course.
As for the comfort, you can easily wear these for five hours in a row and not even feel like they’re there. Previous headphones of mine gave me headaches after only 20 minutes. So that’s a nice change. The ear pads and the headband is just perfect. They are both really soft, velvety and big.
On first listen the clarity and punch hits you hard. It’s obvious right away that these are not your average headphones. These can handle just about any music, games or movies you can throw at it. These will definitely not back down.
